Elections are held at the Forest Town Hall (3625 Millersburg Boulevard, Faribault, MN 55021).

When are elections?
Federal, State, and City Elections are held in even years every two years.
- Primary Elections are the second Tuesday in August.
- General Elections are on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November
2026 Election Schedule and Information:
- Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Forest Township Election
- Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Primary Election
- Tuesday, November 3, 2026, General Election
Township Elections are held annually on the second Tuesday in March following the Forest Township Annual Meeting. The 2026 Annual Meeting will be held at on Tuesday, March 10 at 1:00 pm at the Forest Town Hall. The Forest Township Election will commence immediately after the Annual Meeting. Forest Township will elect 2 supervisors in March 2026. One seat is a 3-year-term. The other seat is a partial term set to expire in March 2027.
Rice County voters can vote by mail or in person at the Property Tax and Elections Office in the Rice County Government Services Building located at 320 Third St. NW, Faribault.
Absentee Ballot Applications are available at https://www.mnvotes.gov, or by calling Rice County Elections at 507-332-6104, or emailing rcelections@ricecountymn.gov.
Absentee voting hours for the March 2026 Township Election run from Friday, February 6th through Monday, March 9th.
Rice County voters can vote by mail or in person at the Property Tax and Elections Office in the Rice County Government Services Building located at 320 Third St. NW, Faribault during the following times:
- 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, from February 6th through March 9th
- 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, March 7th
- 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, March 9th
Please note the Property Tax & Elections Office will be closed Monday, February 16th in observance of President’s Day.
Ballots need to be received by the Rice County Property Tax & Elections Office by 5 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, March 10th in order to be counted. Polling places will not accept absentee ballots on Election Day. Absentee Ballot Applications are available at https://www.mnvotes.gov, by calling Rice County Elections at 507-332-6104, or emailing rcelections@ricecountymn.gov.
Candidates for town board must:
• Be eligible to vote in Minnesota
• Not have filed for another office in the upcoming primary or general election
• Be 21 years or more upon assuming office
• Have maintained residence in their district for at least 30 days before the general election
Candidates must file an affidavit of candidacy with the town clerk. The first day for filing affidavits of candidacy will be Tuesday, December 3, 2025. The last day will be Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Contact the town clerk at foresttwpclerk@gmail.com to file an affidavit of candidacy. In addition to completing an affidavit for candidacy, candidates must pay a $2 filing fee.
